The Meeting
A quilter came to pick up a quilt and to drop off a couple more. I always like "The Meeting". At this time I get to show the quilter what their finished quilt looks like. I get to see the quilt top transformed into a quilt while I am working on it but the quilter only imagines what it will look like until the moment they actually see it. I love to see the look on their face and hear the expresion in their voice.
I also like the part of the meeting when the quilters show me the new quilt tops they brought for me to quilt. I love the show and tell. I love to see the patterns, examine the fabrics, and hear the story behind the quilt. Many ideas pop into my head about the different possibilities of how to finish the quilt. After all, it's not a quilt until it's quilted!!!
I especially like the conversations with quilters. Today we solved many of the problems of the world. Everything seems so simple over a cup of coffee and a few quilts. The politicians of this country should sit down with a cup of coffee and talk to regular people, like quilters, who could set them straight on how life in the real world works and what it takes to make it work. In one afternoon we could get things done.
Happy Quilting,
Laurel
