The Last Leg
It was very difficult for me to get up for school this morning (I am not a morning person) after being on break last week and being able to stay up late and sleep late in the morning.
We are now in what I call the "Last Leg" of the school year. There's still alot to get done and not alot of time to do it in!!!
When I went to get my first cup of coffee this morning, I was given another small bag of scraps from my co-worker's neighbor. What a great way to start my day!!! I loved looking through the bag at my new little treasures. My students wanted to see them too and made comments like: "ohhh, pretty" and "Now you can make another quilt." I had a difficult time waiting until the end of the day to come home and cut my 1½" charm squares and sort the remainders into my scrap tubs.
This week we will be working on cards and gifts for Mother's Day but next week we get to begin work on our End of the Year Quilt Project!!! I am getting ready for our work on this project. I have a new supply of Crayola Fabric Crayons and I have sheets of oatmeal paper (rough paper to lay the fabric on while drawing and coloring so the fabric doesn't slide around) ready to go. Later this week I will cut the fabric pieces and bring them to school with the other supplies so we have everything ready to go next week.
I am thrilled that my students are developing an appreciation for fabric. I am delighted that they are so enthusiastic about our End of the Year Quilt Project. Perhaps one or more of them will make a quilt of their own someday.
Happy Quilting,
Laurel
