Thanksgiving Bonus

The weather was beautiful, the food delicious and I love when my family gathers together. I delight in the interaction of the various generations. I am thankful that my children and grandchild get to know their aunts, uncles and cousins. I like meeting and spending time with the new people who join our growing family and enjoy seeing how the littlest family members have grown. We eat, talk, kid, tell stories, laugh, eat dessert and laugh some more.

We were all surprised when my sister gave my brother, my other sister and I each a copy of a picture of the four of us together when we were young children. (You get only one hint: The picture is in black and white! But in my own defense, I am the baby of the family. :) ) This wonderful gift brought back many memories and sparked conversation about what it must have been like for our parents to raise the four of us. Our children and grandchildren were amused to see the photo of us from so long ago and commented on how they or their children do resemble us!!

Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better, quilting entered the picture. My sister-in-law showed me a stack of hand embroidered quilt blocks that her mother had embroidered. They are beautiful and there are enough to make two or three quilts ( depending on the size, sashings and borders of course!!) Before I knew it my two sisters and my daughter had joined us to ooh and aah over the quilt blocks. I am excited to see my sister-in-law's choice of fabrics and design. She is very talented, has an eye for color and a knack for design.

Good food, family and quilting all in one day.....enjoying all of it and all of them......a bonus.

Happy Quilting,
Laurel
