Quilting Calms Me
A friend of mine called about a sale at a teachers' supply store. We decided to go today ( and you thought teachers were off all summer!!!! while in reality we are busy shopping and planning for next year ) and since my grandson is still visiting we brought him with us. He loves to help me spend money at the teachers' store and there are always a few things that a seven year old can't live without.
We had planned to go to lunch on the way home and my friend had the great idea to take my grandson to Chuck E. Cheese's!!! Thanks Cynthia. I had not been there since my own children were little --- it wore me out. My grandson had a ball. We got one of those package deals with pizza, drinks and a bunch of tokens. He crawled through tunnels, rode rides, played games, collected tickets and turned them in for his choice of treasures. I couldn't believe that he seemed to get energized while I got exausted!!!
When we got home, he told his mom about his day and was ready to play with his new treasures. I, on the other hand, got a glass of iced tea and retreated to my studio. I prepared a backing for a client and attached a new quilt to my longarm quilting machine. My little buddy came in to play with his trains while I quilted. Quilting relaxes me and seems to revitalize me.
After dinner we collected lightening bugs. Finally he began to wind down and after a couple of stories was ready for bed.........me too!
Happy Quilting,
Laurel
