Quilt Shop Hop

My sister, a dear friend and I took part in a Quilt Shop Hop. We had great fun.

There were eleven shops included in this event and we were given sixteen days to complete our mission. Sixteen days sounds like more than enough time but my sister lives far away and we had some family obligations during her visit so, in reality, we had five days to finish. We knew we may not be able to get to all eleven shops and we accepted this possibility but decided to give it our best shot.

When we went to the first shop, we bought our passport  (which also entitled us to 15% off at each shop during this event) and were given our map. Although there were only eleven shops to visit, we are in a rural area so there was a lot of distance between shops and many miles to cover.

Each shop that we visited stamped our passport (to prove we were there) and gave us a goodie bag. Each goodie bag contained a variety of treats; candy, patterns, fat quarters, notions and/or a bottle of water.

Each shop had designed a block for the Shop Hop Quilt and those patterns were also given to us while a kit for the block was available for purchase. There was no purchase necessary but you can be sure that each of us bought something at each shop.

We surprised ourselves when we visited the last shop and our passports were full!!  Since we did fill our passports, they were turned in at the last shop we visited and entered in a drawing for prizes. Out of all of the completed passports, my friend's was pulled and she won the Grand Prize --- a Janome Jem sewing machine and then mine was pulled and I won the Second Prize --- 110 Fat Quarters!!!! We are thrilled.

This experience was a lot of fun. We had a great time traveling from shop to shop --- talking, laughing, telling stories, stopping for lunch. We met many new people, spoke to some we hadn't seen in awhile and found some great shops we didn't know were out there. We got some great goodies and bought a car-load of quilting treasures.

I hope you are able to find a Quilt Shop Hop near you and experience the fun.

Happy Quilting,
Laurel
