Papa and the Pioneer Quilt
While at the grocery store, I walked past the bargain book bin and the word "quilt" caught my eye!
I stopped and found this great little book. Papa and the Pioneer Quilt was written by Jean Van Leeuwen and illustrated by Revecca Bond. This is a terrific little story about a family traveling across the country by wagon train because Papa has "wandering feet". The little girl in the family wants to make a quilt and the story tells how she collects pieces along the way and when they reach their new home her mama helps her make her first quilt.
The book not only has a great story but introduces some history to the little ones it will be read to.
It also explains, in an author's note, why the Wandering Foot Pattern's name was changed to Turkey Tracks!!
Happy Quilting,
Laurel
