One Million Pillowcases!!!

When I opened my February 2010 (sounds weird, doesn't it?) American Patchwork & Quilting magazine I found a challenge that sounds like fun!  They have initiated a 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge.  The idea is for quilters/sewers to make and donate pillowcases to local charities in their communities in an effort to make 1,000,000 pillowcases for charities across the country.  After you make the pillowcases and donate them to your local charity (hospitals, nursing homes, foster agencies, etc.) you add the number or pillowcases you donated to the online counter so the collective progress can be measured.

You can log on to http://AllPeopleQuilt.com/millionpillowcases to get all of the details of the challenge.  They will also give you ideas for where to donate your pillowcases and they have FREE pillowcase patterns available to help you get started.

You might want to sift through your fabric stash and pull out some of those pieces you're not quite sure what to do with and make some pillowcases!  They work up quickly and are sure to put a smile on someone's face.

I am anxious to see how soon the online counter reaches 1,000,000!!!

Happy Quilting,
Laurel
