My Kit Arrived!

My quilt kit for the "Quilt For Kids Challenge" already arrived! ( www.quiltsforkids.org ) I ordered it and thought it wouldn't come until after I was finished at school.  It will have to wait until next week to be assembled but I'm glad it got here already.

I was suprised to see that some of the cutting was already done.  My kit came with blue for the backing, red and blue strips already cut to strip quilt the 4-patch squares and a brightly colored striped piece for a border.  The "focus fabric" is a green fabric with yellow tennis balls and brightly colored tennis rackets along with some stars and a few squiggles.  This  is also pre-cut and will be used for the main squares between the 4-patch squares and the outer border.  The directions included are clear and easy to follow (beginning quilters shouldn't hesitate to do this project).   Even a quilt label is included in the kit!

The quilt arrived in simple packaging which shows me that the main focus of this project is getting quilts to children.

Thank you Sharon for telling me about this project.  I believe it is very worthwhile and I'm glad to be able to be a part of it.

I am anxious to get started on the kit quilt.  I also plan to make some additional quilts to send back along with the kit quilt.  My sister and a couple of my friends plan to do the same.  This is a great project to use up some of your leftover fabric pieces or some of the pieces from your stash!!!

Tomorrow I am going shopping at my favorite fabric warehouse....I think this project is a good excuse to look for some more bright and happy children's fabrics for additional quilts and backingsSmile.

Happy Quilting,
Laurel
