In Like A Lion

Our winter weather this year has been relentless.  It has been our worst winter in over thirty years.  Although I'm not a real fan of being outside during harsh winter weather,  winter doesn't usually bother me too much.  I walk the dog a few times a day and spend most of the remainder of my time indoors.  The ridiculous amount of snow we have had and the long string of below zero and in the teens temperatures are really starting to take its toll.

I had the opportunity to spend two days at a make-it and take-it workshop which was a nice change of pace.  It was nice to go with my fellow teacher and create new centers, folder games and manipulatives for my classroom.  It was also nice to be able to talk to so many other teachers and come back with some new ideas and renewed enthusiasm for math and language arts activities.  Everyone seemed to agree, also, that this winter is taking its toll on the children.  They seem to have "Cabin Fever". They need to get outside to run and play.

Having everything all closed up for so long also means that colds and flu are going around like crazy.  My husband got sick and, sure enough, he shared it with me.  Sleep, sleep, sleep and a little more sleep seems to be the key for dealing with this bug.  I feel like I'm wasting valuable quilting time!!!

After a lot of sleep and a lot of fluids, I was feeling better this afternoon.  It was clear outside and the sun actually shined for awhile!!! A friend picked up a quilt I had quilted for her and two more ladies dropped off five more quilts to be quilted.  The dog and I went for a nice, but cold, walk and I played in my studio for awhile.

I came upstairs for a cup of coffee and looked out the window--- it is snowing again!!!!  And now the familiar sound of the snowplow scraping the road.

Tomorrow will be a wonderful day for quilting as long as I keep feeling well and am able to stay awake!

On a positive note....if the old saying "in like a lion, out like a lamb" holds true for March, the end of this nasty winter is near and spring should be nudging its way here soon!!!

Happy Quilting,
