Homespuns

While in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan last weekend,  we had the opportunity to visit with our nephew and his lovely family. Everyone helped unload the moving truck then we were invited back to their house for dinner. We had a wonderful visit.

Bedroom

This was our first visit to the house they live in and we saw that our niece is a very talented decorator with an eye for color. I was delighted when I walked into my great niece's room and saw the quilt on her bed. I made this quilt for my nephew and his wife when they were married. I am thrilled to know that this quilt is loved and used, and is now in this little girl's room. This is the perfect little princess bedroom and looks like it came right out of a magazine.

Quilt

When their wedding was approaching, I asked my nephew and niece-to-be what kind of  quilt they would like to have. My niece-to-be showed me a picture of a beautiful scrappy quilt made entirely from Homespun fabrics. This is my version of that quilt. I collected as many Homespun fabrics as I could find and created this quilt. The quilt is made up of blues, greens, reds, yellows, browns, pinks, oranges etc. Some of the fabrics have a few gold threads running through them which adds a touch of sparkle. It's quilted in an overall pattern. I love the way the soft colors all seem to blend together in this simple pattern. The six of us sat on the porch and caught up with hours of conversation, pizza and this spectacular view. The children played and shared pizza with us too.

I think it would be a great idea to bring a sewing machine with me when I visit in the future.  I would love to have a sewing day with my sister and niece on this porch while enjoying the wonderful view.

Happy Quilting,
Laurel
