Fifty Years
I had the extreme honor and pleasure to create a signature quilt for my sister and brother-in-law who were celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
I provided fabric squares (I cut these 8½" this time for a 8" finished square) and pens (I like using Micron Fabric Pens) at the party and let the guests work their magic. I am always amazed with the variety of ideas people express on their square....everything from a simple "Congratulations" to elaborate poems and drawings.
At the end of the evening I collected the squares, took them back to my studio and worked my magic!!
The squares were cut from a white on white. I made the sashing (the strips between the blocks) and a border with a gold, white and cream print that was perfect for this project. I quilted an all over pattern of double wandering loops.
I always get the fun part!! I get to work with the blocks and create a one-of-a-kind keepsake for people I love.
They get to enjoy for a long time to come!
Happy Quilting,
Laurel
