Festive Quilts

I got some time to look at my November/December issue of Quiltmaker Magazine and liked what I saw.  There are several really cute quilts inside the covers of this issue.

My two favorite quilts from this issue are Boxes and Bows, which is shown on the cover of the magazine and Polar Patch, shown on page 42.

Boxes and Bows is a beautiful, festive, colorful quilt which incorporates piecing and applique to create an array of wrapped packages and spool blocks on the quilt top.  It has an awesome, ribbon border and be gorgeous displayed in any home during the holidays.  If you can't stand to pack away something this pretty, you could use it as a birthday quilt and display it during the birthday week of each of your family members! Polar Patch is an adorable pieced quilt with a proud mommy and her baby penguin as the focal point of the quilt top.  The outer border is also pieced and the blocks resemble snowflakes.  Penguins are very popular now and this quilt could be displayed and used year round.
