Family Reunion Quilt

These ladies brought this remarkable quilt for me to work on.  It is a signature quilt that has been taken to their family's reunions each year and signed by the family members in attendance.  The detail is difficult to see in the picture but the quilt turned out great!!!

The green strip at the top has the names of the grandparents embroidered in brown thread.  The next green strip holds the names of  each of their children, also embroidered in brown thread.  The top row of white rectangles tells the year and destination where each reunion was held, embroidered with brown.  The rows of white rectangles are the signature blocks where the family members sign their names.

The quilt top was taken to several family reunions then was brought back to me to finish.  The white, tone on tone,  framing border was added before adding the green outer border.  The white, tone on tone, was used for the backing and binding.

After the quilting was done, I added a rod pocket to the back of the quilt so it can be hung and displayed at the next reunion which will be held next month.  This is a beautiful family keepsake.
