Cool Quilt
The weather has been terribly hot lately. I have been having trouble with the heat. I try to get some work done outdoors when the weather is cool but with the temperature creeping up past 90° I tend to hide out in the air conditioning and work on quilts.
This quilt was fun to work on and I think it may have made me feel cooler too!!! Quilts make us warm and are often made from dark warm colors, these cool colors were great to work with in this heat!!!
These colors are very happy. Half of the large squares are yellow and the other half are orange. The squares and rectangles around the large squares are green and purple. You can't help but to feel happy when you look at this quilt.
Four borders were added. The first border is a white on white fabric. Secondly is a border from the green fabric that is also in the body of the quilt. The third border is purple and the last is the orange, both also used in the body of the quilt.
The backing of the quilt is made from the white on white fabric and looks fresh and clean.
I believe the binding will be made from the white on white also. That will look great framing the entire quilt top.
This quilt is for a young lady and will most likely get alot of use so the quilting is all over and close enough to add strength to the quilt. I quilted this piece using a combination of wandering loops and spirals. The spirals pick up the subtle design printed on the orange fabric . This quilting helps to add "depth" and "movement" to the quilt.
Thank you Delores for allowing me to share this beautiful quilt.
Happy Quilting,
Laurel
