A Christmas Trip

A good friend of mine made me one of those offers I couldn't refuse!!!!!  He needed a quilt for a display to show a sample of some different color choices for a Christmas Quilt class.  He made the quilt top.  I provided the batting and quilted it for him. When he was finished with it, I got to keep the quilt.  Now that's a deal.

Quilt

The quilt is one of my favorite patterns, A Trip Around the World.  It was quilted with a meandering stitch which gives the quilt top some "motion".  The fabrics are not the typical green and red Christmas colors.  They are mostly pinks and purples with gold prints like snowflakes, holly and berries, reindeer and geometric shapes.  There is a dark green print, a gold lamay ornament print and finally an off-white printed with green - pink - purple - and gold ornaments to tie everything together.  These colors are different than  what I usually use for Christmas but the quilt is beautiful.

The backing is a varigated fabric which goes from pink to dark purple.  It is printed with snowflakes that have gold centers which is perfect for this quilt.

Quilt outside the box.  Pick one of your favorite quilt patterns and make it out of colors or prints that are at the opposite end of the spectrum from your comfort zone.  Take a chance.  See what happens.  You may be pleasantly surprised!!!

Happy Quilting,
Laurel
