Quilter's Family

So Excited

I am so very excited!  My dear sister is coming for a visit!  We have lots of quilting to do, discuss, and plan.  We have both made lists of things we want to accomplish while we have this time together but we have found that we never have enough time to get everything done!

Happy Fourth

Happy Independance Day to all of you!  We often think of the Fourth of July as a day for picnics, parties, cook outs, swimming pools and fireworks.  While these things are all wonderful fun, I think it is important for us in the United States of America to remember why we celebrate this day.  With this in mind...I hope you enjoy your day whether you are spending it alone or in the company of family and friends.

I have been spending the day with my family. I also had some time to spend in my studio, and will be grilling our dinner in a little while.  This evening, we will enjoy watching fireworks from our own yard.  Our neighbors put on quite a display and we can see the fireworks shows from five of the surrounding towns.

Back to Business

Pink RibbonPink RibbonI am happy to say that my husband is feeling well and doing so much better.  He is back to work and back to being his old self.  I feel like summer has really just begun and I am busy with the normal activities of cleaning, yardwork and, of course, quilting!

Busy busy

I hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday for Father's Day.   I cooked my Hubby's favorite foods and we got to see our son on his first Father's Day!

This was just the start of our busy week of celebrations. Tommorrow is our son's birthday and Thursday is my husband's birthday.

Today, I did get to do a little bit of fabric shopping.   I needed to pick up some more of the fabrics for the Princess quilts I am making.  Luckily, I was able to find all that I needed and can get back to fussy-cutting the princess squares.

Happy Quilting,
Laurel

She's Here

My beautiful granddaughter was born Tuesday night.  It is very exciting to have a new little member of the family.  It was awesome to be able to be at the hospital and be able to see and hold her shortly after she was born.  Things have sure changed since I had my children almost  thirty years ago! (Oh, I think I just sounded like my mother!!)

My husband and I got to visit with our little princess--and her parents Smile--tonight.

We are very lucky to have two such wonderful grandchildren.  Our ten year old grandson and our new granddaughter.  Life is good.

Happy Quilting,
Laurel

Back Online/Pressing On

Thanks to my brilliant daughter, we are back online and better than ever!  We had some technical difficulties which were causing problems on this website and I am very glad that she has the knowledge and talent to upgrade it for me. Thank you Susan.

Bounty of BottlesBounty of BottlesWhile my daughter was taking care of the technology, I was busy with some "pressing" business of my own! (sorry, I couldn't resist Smile)

Mother Nature

I am very anxiously awaiting a visit from my sister.  She is supposed to be coming on Friday. I hope she does not end up snowbound.  This is the third day in a row that they have had snow. Not just a dusting......inches of the white fluffy stuff.  It just keeps coming and coming!  This is supposed to be spring but Northern Wisconsin seems to be taking another stab at winter.

Wedding Quilt

Signature QuiltI finally finished this signature quilt for my son and his wife and gave it to them so they would have it for their anniversary at the end of the month.

Good Busy

This has been a very busy week.  It has been what I call "good busy", when you are very busy but with all good things!

We were able to have our grandson visit us while our daughter attended a conference.  Although he keeps us hoppin', we always enjoy any time he spends with us.  I got to have some fun in my studio too!  I quilted two quilts for a friend in WA, a wallhanging to be presented at a special occasion and I had the great honor of quilting a newbie's (a new quilter) first quilt.

Cold Weather Sport

Our weather has turned very cold. Cold weather is to be expected in January, in Illinois, but our winter has been mild so far so this seems exceptionally cold.  People around me are hoping for snow and are talking about the cold weather sports they love such as skating, skiing, sledding, building snowmen and even making show angels.  Years ago I did all of that with my children, but frankly, now I'd rather stay warm and dry in the confort of my own home.  My favorite cold weather sport is quilting (OK, quilting is my favorite cold weather sport, warm weather sport, wet weather sport, dry weather sport, windy weather sport, fair weather sport, hobby, art, craft ......)
