Reuse, recycle, repurpose! Scrap catcher.

My family sometimes laughs at me because I often have a difficult time throwing anything away that isn't broken or worn out! I am not sure if it has something to do with being raised by parents who lived through The Great Depression or something I learned along the way  while attempting to be frugal.

When I purchased a new paper shredder it came with this tray inside to catch the shredded remains of credit cards and CD's. It took up space and I seldom used it so I removed it.....but couldn't throw it away.....it had to be good for something!! I stuck it in the basement.

While walking past it the other day, I had what I think is a great idea!! I hung it on the door of one of my sewing machine tables to catch thread bits and fabric scraps!!          

It works perfectly!!! Since it is smooth plastic, the scraps come out easily. It is a perfect size, holds a good amount before having to empty and easy to move from one machine to another.

I am very happy that I did not throw it away.

Look inside your shredder bin. You may have a treasure too!!
