Huggable Hangers

Sometimes, while trying to keep strips or completed rows organized for a quilt in progress, I will put them on a hanger.  Putting them on a hanger keeps them in order, in clear view and neatly pressed.  The only problem with this method is that the pieces sometimes slide off of the hangers, especially when moving them from one place to another.

I found the perfect solution!!! Huggable Hangers!

Quilt Clock

ClockClockWhen my friend came over for our sewing day she brought me a Christmas gift. When I opened the box, I was delighted to see this awesome clock.  After she left, I immediately hung it in my studio.  It looks great! It certainly is the perfect clock for a quilter. Smile

Happy New Year 2014

Happy New Year!

As much as I hate how time seems to be flying by lately, I love the beginning of a new year.  I love the feeling of a fresh clean page and new beginnings.  I enjoy making New Year`s Resolutions and setting new goals, even though some of them unfortunately are not completely achieved!

Almost There

For me, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is the most hectic time of the year.  Sooo much needs to be done and there just isn't enough time to do everything.

After Holiday programs, class parties, staff parties, professional development meetings, creating many projects, shopping, wrapping and delivering......Christmas Break is finally here. My students are all very excited and I love seeing life through the eyes of children.  We had a great day today.  I received some nice gifts and they were all appreciative of the gifts I gave to them.  As much as I am grateful for the break, I will miss them.

Scrappy String Quilt

TopTopI do love scrap quilts!

I save all scraps from all of my projects.  Several of my friends save their scraps for me too so I have an even larger variety of colors and prints.

My scraps are sorted into eight different categories and stored in plastic tubs.   The categories I use are: *Crumbs* --- pieces smaller than 2½" square, *Chips*--- pieces smaller than 4½" square, *Charms* --- pieces 4½" square to 8" square,  *Chunks* --- 8" square or larger, *Selvedges* --- narrow pieces of the selvedge edge of the fabric, *Strips* --- 2½" or wider, evenly cut, *Strings* --- pieces wider than ¾" can be uneven and *Strays* --- blocks leftover from a project or practice.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I hope you have a wonderful day full of food, family, friends and fun.

I love Thanksgiving. I like the fact that we celebrate this holiday by gathering with family and friends and being thankful for everything meaningful.

This evening, after the effect of the turkey wears off, I hope you can find some time for quilting!!!

Happy Thanksgiving,
Happy Quilting,

Shopping Spree

BatiksBatiksI was able to do some fabric shopping at my favorite fabric warehouse and found this collection of Batiks!  The bundle contained sixty-one yards and my sister and I were happy to share so we could each add this beautiful prints to our fabric collections (AKA stashes Wink). Each piece in a bundle is five to ten yards and considered a remnant.  Sharing a bundle is a great idea because we each scored two and one-half to five yards of each print.....Oh the possibilities!!!

Thank You Vets

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Veterans for their service.  Whether you are Active now, or were in the past, I appreciate the sacrifices you and your families have made for our country.  We all celebrate this day differently.....thanks to your service we have the opportunity to choose how we honor the men and women of our military.

Thank you.

Happy Quilting,

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

Whether you celebrate Halloween or not....You'd have to admit that the little children in their costumes are cute! They are always so excited about Trick Or Treating and some of the costumes show real creativity.  This day at school is a little crazy though. Second graders have a very difficult time focussing on schoolwork when they have Halloween on their minds.

I live in a semi-rural area so I rarely ever get Trick Or Treaters at my door so I took the opportunity to spend a little time in my studio.

Accuquilt Snowmen

SnowmanSnowmanI recently got these two dies from Accuquilt.

Although these dies are for the Accuquilt Go and I have the Accuquilt Studio machine, I can use them with my machine because I also purchased the adapter which makes this possible.  I am very happy that Accuquilt came out with the adapter which helps make my machine more versatile than ever.

Monday was a day off of school for Columbus Day. A friend and I had a quilting day together. It was wonderful. We had alot of fun talking and "playing". She also has an Accuquilt machine and we were comparing our dies and coming up with many new project ideas to use them for.
