Mini Tumblers

Doll QuiltDoll QuiltI have been crazy about Tumblers lately.  I have been grabbing every Tumbler die of every size that I can find.  I found a die for these little two inch Tumblers and started cutting scraps.

Cutting leads to sewing and before I knew it I had created a little doll quilt for my granddaughter. She will be two years old in May and is loving her baby dolls and stuffed animals.

I added a narrow white border and used a lavender and white backing.  Even though this is a very small project, I quilted it on my longarm machine in a Wandering Loops design.

This special little quilt will be well loved and well used.....for now, to wrap up a stuffed animal puppy!

Happy Easter/Spring/Life

Spring and Easter have always meant new hope, new beginnings and new life to me.  This year they have an even deeper meaning of all of those things to me and I have great cause for celebrating life.

Shortly after the last time I shared with you, my husband slipped and fell on the horrible ice that was everywhere around us during our winter in the Midwest.  The paramedics reacted quickly and brought him to the nearest hospital.  After a few days, and not thorough care, he was released and we came home. He continued to get worse and had some complications. Next came a trip to Urgent Care and after more complications, a stay in another hospital where they found that he had broken his back and had a serious head injury and bleeding, all from the fall.

Happy New Year 2015

Happy New Year!  I hope you have had a wonderful holiday season with family and friends.

I have had a very busy fall. This school year has been hectic to say the least. I've had to have some car repairs done and I finally had to retire the sewing machine I used daily.  I can't complain as it gave me good service for 40 years! I moved a different machine to the "workhorse" position and bought a new machine with up-to-date embroidery features.  The new machine connects to a computer but I have been having alot of trouble with my old computer and had to give in and buy a new computer! I see where they got the saying "When it rains it pours"!

Roses Are Red

RoseRoseThis summer has been especially busy.  We have been able to spend time with family, were invited to a couple of wedding showers and weddings, attended a few baby showers, completed a huge summer project for school and lots of wonderful quilting fun.

The start of school is just around the corner. I still have some unfinished items on my Summer To Do List and now I have added a new project!

Trip Around the World

PeachPeachCornerCornerI love the Trip Around the World quilt pattern and this one turned out especially beautiful.

One of my friends at work asked if I would make a quilt for her.  She gave me only two details: she wanted the color to be peach and the size to be king!  The rest was up to me.

Robots Take Five

QuiltQuiltMy daughter and grandson have moved into their new home.  They moved to be closer to my daughter's new job.  It is always exciting to start a new chapter in your life.  It can also be alot of work and a little scary.

On a recent fabric shopping trip, I found some wonderful robot fabric and purchased it to create a new quilt for my grandson's new bedroom.  I think having a new quilt to snuggle under helps you feel more comfortable while getting used to a new place.

While my grandson was here for a visit, he helped me quilt this new quilt.  I love making memories with my grandchildren and this is certainly a good one!

I had the pleasure of meeting, and being able to speak with, Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company while at the International Quilt Festival in Chicago last weekend.  She is a friendly, energetic, down-to-earth quilter who seems excited to share quilting with others.

Off and Running

School's out, school's out........and I am so glad!  I do love my job, !I just completed my thirty-fifth year of teaching elementary education and will be happy to go back in the fall but after a long, hard winter, I am delighted to have a break.

Our school year was long.  After making up our snow days and packing up my classroom, today is my first day of summer break.  Of course teachers don't really get the summer "off".  There is alot of work to do to prepare for the next school year but, for now, I am going to enjoy some time for me.  I have a terribly long list of things to do this summer and enjoyed jumping right in today!

Technical Oops

I apologize for my technical oops!  The last blog I wrote did not publish.  That happens when you don't push the correct buttons!!!

I hope everyone had a happy Mother's Day.  I did. Any day spent with my family is a good day. Smile

This month we also celebrated our granddaughter's first birthday and another one for me!

Shopping Fun

RobotsRobotsCute FishCute FishA friend and I decided to run out for a little fabric shopping.  Neither one of us really needed anything so of course we found alot that we just couldn't live without!!

I found these awesome robots and couldn't pass them up.  My grandson loves robots and since they will be moving into a new home soon, I thought he would like a new quilt and maybe some curtains for his new bedroom.

The colorful fish, yellow/orange/cream print and the
